Choice Filling

ON LINE CHOICE FILLING - ON LINE COUNSELING

Few years ago, counseling for admissions to engineering colleges were held at the college campuses but with the increase in the number of students & colleges the procedure became difficult & time consuming. So to over come the difficulties, the on line choice filling process was started. Now a day’s most of the states have shifted to the on-line counseling / choice filling model. At present most of the national-AIEEE & state level-CET engineering admission counselings are carried out on-line & branch & college choices are filled by the students through internet from far-off places. Despite the use of technology for betterment, the on line choice filling process also has its own shortcomings. So both, on line as well as on campus counseling models have their own merits & demerits. But here we are going to discuss the methodology & risks involved in current on line choice filling process:

On-line choice filling: On-line choice filling or on line counseling is the most critical part of the admission process. While filling choices for colleges & branches, one has to make sure that the first option should always be better than the 2nd. Many a times the candidate fills the options causally & mess up their chances. Then there is no use in repenting.

So First of all note down the colleges of your choice in accordance with your rank and then select branch. Then also make a choice of colleges versus branch i.e. decide whether to sacrifice a college for the branch or a branch for your preferred college. if you are passionate for some branch then you must opt for the same even if u get a college lower in the ranking but if you do not have any special interest in a particular branch then you must go for the good college. Make various permutations & combinations of colleges & branches & only then start filling the choices as per your list.

Although you can make amends in further rounds of counseling but once you fill the wrong choice, and the seat is filled by the candidate having a lower rank, then there is no way out. as a bird in the bush is like twice in the hand.

Example for choice filling:

Note down the list of colleges say NITs as per their ranking as under:

Top NIT Colleges (AIEEE)

• TRICHY

• WARANGAL

• SURATHKAL

• ALLHABAD

• JAIPUR

• NAGPUR

• ROURKELA

• BHOPAL

• KURUKHESTRA

• CALICUT

• SURAT

• JAJANDHAR

• DURGAPUR

• JAMSHEDPUR

• HAMIRPUR

• RAIPUR

• PATNA

• SILCHAR

• AGGARTALA

• SRINAGAR

Now if you are passionate about a branch say CSE, make list like CSE- Trichy, CSE-Suthakal, CSE-Warangal  and so on right up to the college last in the serial and make another list with your 2nd preference of branch like ECE-Trichy, ECE-Surthakal, ECE-Warangal again right up to the end. And only then start choice filling as per the list.

But if you do not have any special interest in a particular branch then try to opt for a college higher in ranking as under:

Choose two three branches in order of preference say, CSE, ECE and MECH  & fill choices as CSE-Trichy, CSE-Surthakal, CSE- Warrangal and stop there i.e. 2-3 step down and do not move low down the order. Thereafter take your 2nd preference branch say ECE and list as ECE-Trichy, ECE-Surthakal, and ECE-Warrangal. Similarly fill your 3rd preferred branch.  But thereafter move to next three colleges and fill as CSE-Allahabad, CSE-Jaipur, CSE-Nagpur and so-on keep repeating the choice filling process till end.

Take care to fill the maximum available choices.
