MHT CET 2012 - MORE SEATS LIKELY TO FALL VACCANT

Posted in: MH CET

There are 24,000 more seats compared to last year for courses in engineering colleges in state. Last year, of the 1,33,960 seats available, 22,800 seats were left vacant.

Experts said high fee was the main reason for vacant seats. Fee in government engineering colleges this year would be around Rs50,000, and in private colleges it may go up to lakhs of rupees.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Technical Education has stated it will declare the admission dates next week. Students have to fill the online form with details of their standard X and XII marks and other information. The form will be available on www.dte.org.in.fe.2012 once dates are declared, said Centralised Admission Process (CAP) chairman and College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) professor, CY Patil. He said, “CAP was started to avoid confusion. A mock run of the admissions will also be done, so students get a rough idea.”

CoEP and some other colleges are the application receiving centres (ARC). Students have to take a printout of the application form and get it confirmed at the ARC, which means they have to get it registered, to be entered into the database, Patil said.
